Which Golf Course Should You Tee Off Of in Newport Beach?
Your Travel Guide @ Beachview Vacations
FEBRUARY 10, 2021
Golf Digest listed Orange County as one of the World’s 50 Greatest Golf Destinations. And once you step onto the greens, you’ll see why.
Each course in Newport Beach is a hole in one – but for their own reasons! Some are over-the-top breath-taking, while some are a terrific bang for your buck. We take you through the in’s and out’s of 3 of the best courses in and around Newport Beach so you can be sure to choose the course that’s best for you and your crew.
Let’s Start with the I’m-on-Vacation Course
Pelican Hill Golf Club: Situated at the top of a hill overlooking the ocean, Pelican Hill is a hotel/restaurant/golf course complex that’s more palace than resort. At this prestigious piece of property, there’s not one, but two impeccable courses. With every detail designed by Tom Fazio, these sister courses weave their way through stunning terrain and panoramic vistas to perfectly complement the coastal landscape. And while reservations are tough to get, it’ll be worth the hassle. But save your pocket change! One round of golf will cost you more than $300. Hot tip: book a twilight tee time and you’ll get views of the sunset as well as a nice discount.

Golf the Most Affordable Course in Newport Beach
Newport Beach Golf Course: Conveniently located by the 55 and 73 freeways and close to John Wayne airport, this course is open for day and night play – from 6:30-9:00pm! It also happens to be the best deal in town. Some folks balk at the rubber mats, but you can’t deny that this place has it all: a full driving range, putting green, chipping green, cheap private instruction, and a shop. Simply put, the Newport Beach Golf Course is the perfect place for those who love the game.

How About the Locals’ Favorite Course?
Mile Square Golf Course: Many consider this course to have the best greens in Orange County. You also don’t have to pay through the nose to enjoy them. While the course is outside Newport Beach’s zip code, it’s just a short drive out of town and most locals don’t bat an eye when choosing this course as their preferred place to hit the driving range or the front 9. Can’t get away during the day? Their driving range is open until 10:00pm, making this course a great place to escape for some fresh night air.
