Local Guide – Best Go To Beaches in Newport Beach
Your Travel Guide @ Beachview Vacations
DECEMBER 21, 2020
Beach gear is packed and sunscreen is lathered, but where’s the best spot to soak up the sun? Newport Beach only has white sandy beaches, but each stretch and section offers something different, so every sun seeker can find their perfect patch of paradise.
Stellar Stretch of Surf & Sand – Upper West Peninsula
This stretch has volleyball courts for public use, great waves for experienced surfers, and infrequent crowds. From May-October, there’s even a Swimmers/Body Boards Only Zone from 40th-44th street. Parking can be found for free on the residential streets or in a few metered parking lots.
Newport Pier & Blackie’s Beach – West Peninsula
The water is typically calmer here, making it the perfect stretch of sand to bring the entire family. Blackie’s on the North side of the Newport pier is a famous surf break that’s perfect for mellow longboarders or first-time surfers. To avoid crowds, wander away from the pier area and head to the streets numbered in the 30’s. Parking is free but sparse on these residential streets.

Catch the Wave of Fun – Pier to Pier
Close to restaurants and the Fun Zone while also boasting powerful waves, this section of sand is ideal for older teens who want to play on and off the beach. There are plenty of bathrooms and foot showers at both piers, as well as pay-to-stay parking lots. You can keep the beach day going into the evening at the Balboa pier by grilling out on one of the available public grills or building a beachside bonfire at one of the fire pits. Summer Americana at its best!

The World Famous Wedge – Peninsula Point
“Shore break” waves make for great skimboarding and the quiet beaches make for ideal suntanning. When there’s a southwest swell, be sure to check out the epic waves at the Wedge and the bodysurfers who brave them!
Family Friendly – Corona del Mar State Beach
With breathtaking views of the harbor entrance and majestic rock structures jutting out of the ocean, it’s no wonder this beach is typically packed with admirers. The waves here are always calm and there’s convenient parking, bathrooms, and showers, making it the perfect spot for a family day at the beach. Remember to pack s’more supplies and roast marshmallows in one of the available fire rings as the sun sets on the horizon.
Crystal Cove State Park
Vintage Paradise – Crystal Cove State Park
Dotted with beach cottages and a delicious shore side cafe, this cove is a piece of paradise, with gentle waves and captivating tidepools. Parking is $15/day but worth every penny once you’ve experienced this local gem.
Our advice? Stay for a few days and soak up each and every one of these spectacular beaches for yourself. We have the perfect homes to complete the vacation of your dreams, all just steps away from these world-class beaches.
