Newport Beach is Back in Business with these 5 Newly Reopened Summer Favorites
Your Travel Guide @ Beachview Vacations
June 4, 2021
Newport Beach is reopening just in time for the summer! And can you believe it? Summer-goers haven’t had access to these favorites since 2019!
And what makes these reopenings extra exciting is that Newport Beach’s shopping, dining, and adventuring are better than ever! Our only word of caution is to start making your reservations NOW because these activities and destinations are booking up fast!

Get Hooked on Newport’s Seafood Scene
Two of Newport Beach’s iconic seafood restaurants were closed during parts of the pandemic, but are now making a splash with their reopenings! The Crab Cooker, the original Newport Beach seafood joint, has been closed since 2018 for renovations, but will be welcoming crowds again in July! Yes, there is always a line of people outside waiting for their chance to dig into crab legs, clam chowder, and all-around fresh, tasty seafood. But trust us, the grub is worth the hubbub!
And after taking precautions during the pandemic by temporarily closing its doors, The Cannery Restaurant is back in business! We cannot wait for happy hours on their top level, which overlooks the waters of the harbor like nothing else in town does. Visitors and locals alike can even park their boats on the Cannery’s front dock for an extravagant dock-n-dine evening.

Evenings on the Back Bay Make for Perfect Family Excursions
Looking for something to do with your family after a day at the beach? Newport Dunes is once again opening its doors for movies on the beach every weekend this summer! Bring some beach chairs and blankets and sit by the peaceful waters of the back bay while watching classic family movies. This summer, they have a whole lineup of crowd favorites, from WALL-E to Space Jam to The Sandlot. Check out their summer movie line-up.
If you’re in more of the adventuring mood, Newport Dunes also hosts evening glow-in-the-dark stand-up paddle board tours. Paddle your way through the back bay, led by the soft glow of your own extra large paddle board with Radiant Rides. You may even spot some sea life swimming beneath you! Tours start at $35 a person and make for an evening everyone will remember.

Visit Newport’s Neighbors for the Day
Take advantage of Newport Beach’s central location by visiting the unique destinations and attractions right next door to the city! Day trip to Catalina Island, a picturesque island right off our coastline. And it couldn’t be easier to get there via the Catalina Flyer, a large boat that ferries folks back-and-forth every day from Newport’s own harbor. Both the Flyer and the island are reopened and ready to host visitors for a one-of-a-kind summer excursion!
Another Newport neighbor that’s newly reopened is the Mouse himself: Mickey and his Disney crew! And if you can’t manage to snag tickets to the reopened park, Newport is also a hop, skip, and jump away from other newly reopened theme parks! Great Wolf Lodge is an indoor water park right next to Disneyland that is guaranteed to thrill your group – no matter who’s in it!
And Legoland is any lego-aficionado’s dream destination and is right down the coast from Newport in Carlsbad.

Make a Splash at one of Newport’s Many Summer Camps
And if you’re looking for kid-friendly activities and adventure within Newport itself, the city has reopened and revamped its week-long summer camps. There are a plethora of classes, camps, and activities for your kids to explore. From sailing to theater to robotics, you will surely find a camp that’s custom-built for your kid at Camp Newport.
And if week-long camps are not your style, consider booking a surf lesson or two with Endless Sun Surf School. They provide the friendliest and most seasoned instruction in the business and have all the equipment you’ll need – including wetsuits! And what’s more Newport than learning how to hang ten? Classes are offered to both kids and adults, so the whole family can wobble and shred together!

And what’s a Vacation without Spa Day
The reopening that vacationers and locals are perhaps looking forward to the most is Spa Day! And Newport Beach is the epicenter for pampering and preening. Some of the best, most luxurious spas and services in town have recently reopened and are once again delivering some serious R&R. Spa Gregorie’s is a favorite with the locals for all things relaxation: massages, facials, body wraps, manicures, and hair care. It’s located right next to Fashion Island, too, so is the perfect place to end a day of shopping.
A Little Touch of Heaven is the other Newport go-to for high-end treatments of all kinds. Here you’ll find the latest facial styles and services, from LED to micro-current treatments. They’ll even customize a facial service based on your specific skin type. And may we add: it’s right next to Lido Marina Village, so a day of shopping and facials seems like the most sensible way to organize the day!
