How to Have the Ultimate Spring Break in Newport Beach
Your Travel Guide @ Beachview Vacations
February 24, 2021
There’s zero time to waste during Spring Break.
Here is a quick guide on how to have the ULTIMATE SPRING BREAK in Newport Beach
You get seven days of vacation and that’s it. Maybe that’s why Spring Break is the pinnacle of all school holidays. Unlike summer, where weeks can blur together, Spring Break is short, but oh so sweet – especially after those long winter months.
That’s why it’s critical that while vacationing in Newport Beach, you experience the absolute best that this beach town has to offer. So we’re sharing the activities that are not only unique to Newport Beach, but also fun, memorable, and most importantly, full of that bright, SoCal sunshine.
Kick off your Newport Beach Spring Break with a Seafood Spread:
Sometimes, vacation is all about the food. And yes, even in a town where bathing suits are worn from sunup to sundown. But once you’ve arrived and unloaded your suitcases and beach gear, you’ll more than likely want to dig into some fresh coastal faire.
Seafood is the name of the game here and there’s no better place to get a killer fish taco than at Bear Flag Fish Co, a casual walk-up restaurant with its own fishing boat that brings in their fresh catch daily. Or try their sister restaurant, Circle Hook, which leans into the fried fish side of things. Both are located on the popular Newport peninsula and both are equally delicious.
If you’re staying in one of 1,200 vacation homes on the peninsula and prefer to fire up your own grill, pick up fresh local catch from Pearson’s Port. It’s a local favorite, family-owned fish market that sits right on the Newport harbor. Grab some lobster tails, shrimp, tuna, and whatever else was caught that morning to host the ultimate seafood soiree with friends and family.

Explore Newport Beach on Bike
Newport Beach is one of the most likeable towns in the country. In fact, plan on ditching your car keys for the week, because everything you’ll need and want is accessible on foot or bike.
The Newport Beach boardwalk is where Spring Break stories and memories are made of! It stretches from one end of the peninsula to the other and is the perfect place to people-watch and dolphin-watch (seriously keep your eyes open, because dolphins can usually be spotted leaping just beyond the waves!).
Order a fleet of bikes to be delivered straight to your front door by Beachview Bikes and then head for some epic boardwalk destinations. Families love the Balboa Fun Zone, with a ferris wheel, arcade, and even a ferry that will take you to Balboa Island for a few bucks. Or gawk at the surfers twisting and turning on the waves at the world-famous Wedge or at the River Jetties on the north side of town.

No Spring Break is Complete without a Beach Day!
Our picks… Penisula Park or Little Corona.
At least one day of Spring Break should be reserved as “Beach Day” – the kind of day that starts and ends on the sand. While any spot along Newport’s 10 miles of beachfront is great for beach day marathons.
Peninsula Park and Little Corona are particularly special because they have easy access to bathrooms, showers, and fire rings. This way, when the sun starts to sink towards the horizon, you and the crew can bust out the s’more supplies and continue the beach party until the beach closes at 10:00pm. Then, after you have worked up an appetite? Laventina’s Big Cheese Pizza will deliver to your beach location for a small fee – and their pizzas are top notch, too!
It’s not just Spring Break in Newport Beach –
It’s Whale Watching Season!
Believe it or not, Newport Beach is the favorite Spring Break spot for some of the world’s largest mammals – the humpback and gray whales! The early Spring months are prime time for these majestic creatures to migrate past our coastline, showing off their barnacled bodies as they dip and dive.
Perhaps the most epic way to view these whales is on one of the zodiac boats from Newport Coastal Adventure. Beacuse of their smaller size, these boats get you to the whales faster than the larger tours, and you’ll also be closer to the action. But if a 24-36 foot boat isn’t your cup of tea when viewing 100 foot-long mammals, book a whale watching expedition through Newport Whales. Their large vessels are usually better for those prone to seasickness, and they are also a better bang for your buck.
And if keeping on solid ground is more of your thing, visit the cliffs at Crystal Cove State Park in the morning with a cup of coffee and keep your eyes peeled, because these panoramic lookout points make it easy to spot whales leaping and breaching in the Pacific.

Spring Styles & Outdoor Shopping is where it’s at…
What’s a vacation without buying a souvenir or two? Newport Beach has world-class shopping just steps from the sand!
At Lido Marina Village, you’ll find a charming center of shops and restaurants along the Newport harbor waterfront. Luxury favorites like Aesop and Jenni Kayne sit alongside local treasures like the Lido Village Bookstore and the Historic Lido Theater.
Or venture to Fashion Island, an outdoor shopping mecca that’s perched on a hill overlooking the ocean. You’ll have access to shopping staples like Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, and Lululemon – all in an open shopping complex with splashy fountains, shaded courtyards, and excellent lunch spots.
