A Virtual Newport Beach Day on Surfline.com

Your Travel Guide @ Beachview Vacations

JANUARY 7, 2021

Why Surfline.com should be every beach lover’s best friend

Land-locked States are a Thing of the Past

No beach, no problem. If the coastline is miles from your home, you can still wake up to views of waves crashing and dolphins leaping. Allow us to introduce surfline.com – a website that livestreams hundreds of surf breaks throughout the world. It began as a resource for surfers to check out the water conditions before heading out for a surf session, but it has evolved into an invaluable tool for any beach lover.

How to Navigate Surfline

The first thing you should know is that there is both a free version and a subscription version of the website. Both versions are excellent, depending on what you’re looking for. The free version allows you access to any surf cam across the globe, along with swell forecasts, water temperatures, and other ocean analytics.

You will just have to deal with video ads along the way. The subscription service allows you to view live feeds ad-free as well view forecasts up to 17 days in the future. The subscription cost is $7.99/month or $95.88/year.

How to Get the Most Beach for your
Buck from Surfline

Whether you have a subscription or not, Surfline is a great way to experience the beach when a trip to the coast isn’t possible. Plug in the name or zip code of the location you’d like to view, and viola! You can view a crystal clear feed of your favorite beach spot.

Watch the surfers, seagulls, tourists, and general beach splendor while you’re at work, in class, or cleaning up the dinner dishes. We won’t tattle on you! Be sure to check out the Surfline articles and blogs, too. They cover a myriad of topics, from the best beach gear to the best vacation spots to the science behind ocean activity.

Use Surfline as your Local Travel Guide

Surfline is arguably the best travel guide you can use when planning your next vacation. Why travel to the Caribbean for crystal clear water only to find a stormy sea filled with debris and seaweed? Travel agencies and booking sites are often unreliable when describing local beach conditions.

With Surfline, you can see the sea for yourself! Get a sense of local currents, wave size, water temperature, and ocean floor topography with Surfline’s resources.

Our Favorite Surfline Video Cam to “Stalk”

We would be remiss to not include our favorite video cam for viewing! Our hands-down favorite spot to get a daily dose of beachy vibes is the Newport Beach Pier. Some may accuse us of being biased, since the Newport Pier is our home break. But check out this camera for yourself and you’ll quickly see why this is our #1 spot. With perfectly shaped waves and a flat, sandy bottom, the Newport Beach Pier is a go-to spot for surfers and beachgoers alike. If you want a window into a picture perfect beach day, this is the camera for you! Check it out for yourself here!

We must warn you, however, that these beach cameras may give you a serious case of wanderlust. If you want to dive into your computer screen and emerge at the beach in-person, check out these vacation homes situated in one of the best beach towns in Southern California.

Equal parts beautiful and affordable, these Newport Beach vacation homes are the best way to get that dose of beach we are all craving and needing right about now.
