May 12, 2021
With the world reopening, travel bucket lists are longer than ever. There’s just too many places to see and explore! But travel is expensive, and our wallets can only handle so much.
Here’s one timeless trick that will allow you to say “yes” to all the travel on your bucket list: budget! Because lodging is the most expensive travel item, booking a bargain vacation home will help your travel fund go a lot further! We found four bargain vacation rentals in Newport Beach that are cheap, but also outrageously charming, so you can save money and see the world!
929 W. Bay Street # B, Newport Beach
Private and Cozy Getaway at 929 W Bay #B
Tucked away in an upstairs rear unit, this one bedroom vacation home is perfect for a romantic weekend. You’ll have all the amenities you need taken care of along with granite countertops, woodplank flooring, spacious living area, and even a small balcony. The best part is the proximity to the bay – only 100 feet away! – with the beach only a three minute walk away. This cozy unit is listed far cheaper than its comparable competitors because it does not come with parking. For the budget-traveler, though, that’s an easy dilemma to solve with free street parking all around the neighborhood.

Bring the Whole Family to 918 E Oceanfront A & B
Want to stay in a prime location without paying over-the-top pricing? This side-by-side duplex gets the job done! You’ll enjoy the coveted oceanfront location and be close to the Balboa Pier and Fun Zone – ideal for families who want to explore the best of Newport Beach. The 1910 construction makes for thin walls and a small floor plan, but who needs that when the beach is in your front yard? Book the whole duplex and the entire family can enjoy those golden beach days for a fraction of the typical cost!

What Beach Cottage Dreams are Made of at
921 E Balboa Blvd:
Whoever said “you get what you pay for” has never stayed in this seaside cottage, because it’s absolutely ideal and terrifically cheap. As far as we can tell, the reason for its marked-down price is because of its original construction, which, in our opinion, added to the beach cottage experience. There’s no air conditioning, but when you’re literally steps from the sand, the climate is cool enough to forego that modern convenience. And who wants to stay indoors with a patio like this one? It’s large size and adorable ambiance beg for nightly backyard barbecues with good friends and good wine.

905 W Bay Avenue, Newport Beach
Bay Views for a Bargain at 905 W Bay Ave
This historic upstairs charmer is bright and cheery, with floor-to-ceiling windows that look out onto the harbor. Inside, the past meets the present with a great balance of vintage ambiance and coziness. There’s an original milk bottle delivery door in the kitchen for crying out loud! However, modern amenities and conveniences are thoughtfully provided as well, so that this small-scale retreat is still well-supplied and well-worth it. And outside, the soothing Newport Harbor is your backyard, the perfect destination for kayaking and stand-up paddling. And just a hop, skip, and jump away is the beach itself – one of the best in California! Not bad for budget travel!
